You have written
Taking positive square root on both sides:
3 - 5/2 = 2 - 5/2
2 - 5/2 is not positive. The correct is:-
Taking positive square root on both sides:
|3 - 5/2| = |2 - 5/2| (here |a| stands for modulus of a)
Or, |1/2| = |-1/2|
Or, 1/2 = 1/2 (because |1/2| = 1/2 and |-1/2| = 1/2)
No anomaly.
